Lost and Found
Location
Welcome Road Winery presents "Lost and Found", a group exhibition of 12” x 12” mixed media encaustic works by students in Cara Jaye’s Art 306 Mixed Media on Paper class.
Lost and Found features a found item as the starting point for each work. The found item becomes the focal point or important element in which to begin the piece, and often has a quality of randomness to it. It is the found nature of the piece that is key to the project. The unintentional quality of the found item chosen interjects a question as to authorship and unintentional collaboration. "Lost and Found" also structures the concept of loss as a theme. The loss may be something or someone special, the loss of a quality or a concept. With loss there is often something found as well. Each student presents a personal vision as a response to the prompt.
Welcome Road Winery is located at 300 W. Champion Street in Bellingham.
Encaustic works are painted with pigmented wax on a substrate, such as a wood panel, and are fused or burned in through the use of a heat source, such as a heat gun or propane torch.
