The Art Department’s sculpture and installation art instructors, Werner Klotz and Sebastian Mendes are offering a new summer course in one of the Europe's greatest cities for the arts, Berlin.
Imagine yourself spending two incredible weeks in Berlin seeing and making art the whole time.
BERLIN: Explore, learn and experience Europe’s most exciting city for the arts. Join Western faculty artist, Sebastian Mendes and visiting Berlin artist Werner Klotz for two weeks in Berlin. Meet contemporary artists in their studios for workshops and discussions. Visit Berlin’s greatest museums, contemporary art galleries and site-specific artworks, via your own bicycle. Students will have access to a large, centrally located studio for hands-on projects, presentations and discussions. You’ll have an opportunity (not a requirement) to exhibit your work in Berlin.
Highlights: Visit world-class contemporary and historic painting and sculpture collections. Attend workshops with internationally recognized sound artist Christina Kubisch and installation artist Christian Hasucha. Tour Berlin architecture with renowned local architect Christof Seiffert. Visit Sanssouci, Germany’s Versailles. During your stay in Berlin, you’ll live in Kreuzberg, Berlin’s exciting artists’ quarter. From there, you’ll make daily visits to galleries, museums, monuments and installations throughout Berlin.
