The College of Fine and Performing Arts offers opportunities for the community, Western students and youth in grades K-12 to get involved with a variety of events and programs. Aside from student events, our programs include the Western Gallery, University Public Art Collection, Sanford-Hill Piano series, and Western Arts Preparatory Academy. For educational and community theatre groups, Western students, faculty and staff, we also have costume rentals available for production and classroom needs. Learn more about each below.
The Western Gallery and University Public Art Collection, open to everyone, works to provide diverse experiences in visual art. While the gallery expands the audience's awareness through historical, contemporary and experimental art exhibitions, the famous outdoor sculpture collection reminds us that art in the environment is an active part of daily life.
The Sanford-Hill Piano Series provides access to legendary pianists and rising stars from around the world for the students of Western Washington University and the greater community.
Our youth programs offer fun, enriching activities for anyone from age 4 up through grade 12 during the summer and throughout the school year.
- The Suzuki Violin program teaches students to strive for their potential.
- The Summer Youth Theatre Program (SYTI) involves young actors and actresses in a showcase production.
- The Summerwinds day camp gives students an opportunity to improve their woodwinds playing skills.
- The Education Matinee Series engages students in a variety of fun cultural arts performances throughout the school year.
The costume rental program provides an over 50 year collection of period costumes, modern clothing, fantasy and odd-ball attire primarily for adults. Visit the Costume Rental Shop to learn more and view some of the collection.
