Dance in Concert features a diverse lineup of contemporary dance performances with original choreography by WWU Dance faculty, special guest artists Alfonso Cervera with original music composition by Seth Alexander and performance, lighting and costume design by WWU students. BFA students will also be performing their Capstone Project solos with Lily Jacobs performing work by Seattle based choreographer Hilary Grumman, Marie Meacham performing a work by NYC based Nicole von Arx, and Emily Petersen performing a piece by Seattle based choreographer Marlo Martin. This event promises to be an unforgettable experience of movement artistry and collaboration.

The program includes

  • The Shape of Falling explores themes of courage and grace, choreographed by Hilary Grumman in collaboration with Lily Jacobs, featuring an original score by Marco Gill.
  • As Long as We Are Here by Pam Kuntz, celebrates collective movement with a sound score by Richard Scholtz, brought to life by an ensemble cast of dedicated performers.
  • Where the Light Spills, a breathtaking solo choreographed by Nicole von Arx, reimagines past works into a captivating new vision performed by Marie Meacham.
  • Cuerpos de Yum’K’aax, led by Alfonso Abraham Cervera, honors community and expression with contemporary and Latin dance forms interwoven in the choreography.
  • Western Dance, choreographed by Susan Haines, weaves nostalgia, humor, and imagination inspired by Vanity Fair photo shoots, the 80s TV drama "Dallas", and the novels of Tom Robbins.
  • A Practice of Now Until Then reflects on the passage of time, choreographed by Marlo Martin and performed by Emily Petersen.
  • Ritmo ng Alay brings forth visual narratives of Angela Sebastian’s choreography, enhanced by a rich soundscape and original costume design by Miles Stansbury.
