Emily Brown, Mezzo Soprano Senior Recital

Time and Location

Emily Brown, in collaboration with Rachel Roulet, will perform a senior recital that is in-person with a livestream, featuring works by Brahms, Howells, Ravel, Rossini, and Sheila Silver. A singer and pianist, Emily Brown is a senior vocal performance major who has been singing for 11 years. Having begun singing in choirs in 6th grade, she has been in a choir every year since; at WWU, she was in the Advanced Treble Chorale for a year and has been in Concert Choir for 3 years as well as Western Voices this quarter. Upon attending WWU, she began taking voice lessons, first with former professor Dr. Eric Rieger for 2 years and currently with professor Jay Rozendaal for 2 years. She has received multiple scholarships, including the Hall Stout Memorial Scholarship, the Frances J Miller Endowment, and the Terry Clark Music Scholarship; before WWU, she competed in a competitive scholarship event in 2018, where she was awarded the Virginia Richardson scholarship. She has performed various roles in productions at WWU, including Pallade in the 2019 opera production of L’incoronazione di Poppea, Miss Todd in the 2020 Opera Scenes, and most recently The Princess in the 2022 opera production of Suor Angelica. She has also performed as a soloist in numerous concerts, such as the 2019 Winter Liederabend, the 2021 Fall Liederabend, and both the 2021 and 2022 Concerto Competition Finalist Concerts.
