FIGURE & SYMBOL / January 9-13, 2017
with an Opening Reception on Monday, January 9, 2017
FIGURE & SYMBOL is a unique international course exploring deep historical sources of figurative art and its contemporary practice. Two linked courses led by Professors Cynthia Camlin and Monique Kerman combined an intensive studio experience focusing
on the human form with an anthropological approach to figurative art across cultures and first-hand study of Paleolithic cave painting. Offered for the first time in Fall 2016, the course started and ended on campus and in-between traveled to France for 26 days. Learn more about the courses.
