Liz Binnington presents: Eras

Inspired by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, Liz is taking a different approach to what “eras” mean to her. In collaboration with Rebecca Manalac, Cordelia Loyd, Luke Gavin, and the Roots Ensemble, Liz will be taking the audience on a journey through time, exploring the different eras of music.

Throughout this performance you may hear a Gregorian chant, you may hear some modern country classics, you may even hear a Paganini Caprice. Everything will be explored through multiple expressions of creativity throughout each style of music.

Come dressed in your favorite era to watch a recital you will not want to miss!

Liz Binnington Bio

Liz Binnington is a senior at Western Washington University, where she is earning her Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance. She grew up in southern Illinois and participated in the Suzuki program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where her mother taught. Vera McCoy-Sullentic was her private teacher from a young age until Liz moved to Port Orchard, Washington, at the age of twelve. In the South Kitsap School District, she became one of the founding members of the district's orchestra, having played violin in their band program throughout middle school. Alongside her mother, she helped teach elementary school students and eventually founded and directed a middle school orchestra camp during the summer. In her junior year of high school, she began taking lessons from Gayane Grigoryan.

After a series of adventures post-high school graduation, including several concussions, teaching preschool, working at Disney World, and studying with Dr. Margaret Baldridge, Liz transferred to Western Washington University in 2023. In her past two years at Western Liz has served as concertmaster of the Western Symphony Orchestra, played in the NowHearThis! ensemble, the Composers of Western ensemble, and now serves as President of two clubs: the Western Orchestra Players Association and the club she founded, Roots Music Group. Through her leadership, Roots has sold out venues, played in the Northwest Folklife Festival, and has made a large mark on the music community at Western. This was all recognized as of recent by earning the “Outstanding Leadership” Award through the Club Association.

Additionally, she works as a student manager for the Foundation for WWU and Alumni and as a Student Admissions Representative while also representing the Music Department on the Department Related Activities Committee
