Open to All at No Cost

“Organic/Geometric:the Body/Mind” is a sculpture/dance collaboration conceived and directed by Bellingham sculptor Francie Allen. She is working with six art students and six dance students from WWU to create a sculptural installation with a dance event in the Viking Union Gallery, that opened Monday, 2/23/15. Hours are 2/23-3/13 from 11-5 pm.

The exhibit displays six large geometric forms created by each artist specifically for one of the dancers. During gallery hours the dancers, in costume, are holding rehearsals for their performance, giving visitors the chance to watch their creative process. The dance they create will take place during the Closing Reception: Thursday, March 12, 2015, from 6-8 pm, Viking Union Gallery on the Western campus.

If you'd like to see the process unfold, rehearsal times are: Friday 3/6 from 1-2 pm, Monday 3/9 from 2:30-3:30, Wednesday 3/11 from 4-5 pm.

For more information or to follow the progress of this project, see Francie’s website: www.francieallen.com.
