Open to All at No Cost

*Reception to follow in the Western Gallery, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided for the reception.

Co-authors Dr. Sa’ed Atshan and Katharina Galor will speak about their book project The Moral Triangle: Germans, Israelis, Palestinians (Duke University Press).

In The Moral Triangle, Atshan and Galor draw on ethnographic fieldwork and interviews with Israelis, Palestinians, and Germans in Berlin to explore the asymmetric relationships in the context of official German policies, public discourse, and the private sphere.

"Survival, trauma, grace, forgiveness, desperation, and hospitality are issues that stir the conscience and consciousness of this remarkable book. The Moral Triangle exceeds its geometry to provide a many-sided, plural perspective on living together in difference with dignity.” — Homi K. Bhabha, Anne F Rothenberg Professor of the Humanities, Harvard University

Discussing this book project will offer the Western community new modes of investigating how migration, trauma, and contemporary state politics are inextricably linked.

The event is geared towards all the diverse groups on campus. We believe this has a special relevance to today’s global issues of migration, history and memory. Following the talk, the Western Gallery will host a reception at the Gallery to invite the speakers and audience to further engage in discussion while viewing the Fall exhibition.

Co-sponsored with the Institute for Global Engagement, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Department of Political Science, Department of Sociology, Department of Global Humanities and Religions, Department of History, and the Fairhaven College Department of American Cultural Studies.
