Western Washington Department of Theatre and Dance presents
THE SECRET GARDEN
Book and Lyrics by MARSHA NORMAN Music by LUCY SIMON
based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Directed by Heather Dudenbostel
The Secret Garden, the enchanting classic children’s story of forgiveness and renewal, is reimagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox is sent to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies, and spirits from Mary's past who guide her through her new life. This concert presentation of the Tony-Award-winning musical is the perfect event for a theatre lover, symphony patron, or opera buff of any age. With a stunning professional orchestra as the backdrop, and a company of talented singing actors as your guides, you will surely find yourself transported.
Hearing Assistant Devices are available upon request. Just ask the usher as you enter the theatre.
"Secret Garden, The" is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
