Kiersten Carter-Hines (she/him) will present a Senior Composition Recital featuring original works composed during her time of study in the Department of Music under the instruction of Charles Halka and Bruce Hamilton.
Carter-Hines grew up in Richmond, Virginia before moving to Bellingham to study music composition. He took lessons from his grandfather, J.B. Carter, on the alto saxophone at 12 years old, eventually picking up the baritone saxophone in high school. Currently, Carter-Hines leads a saxophone quartet, "The Broads", plays in Bellingham Community Band, and in a small jazz ensemble "Ebb Tide". After earning her degree in composition, Carter-Hines will begin Renton Technical College's Instrument Repair Program.
