Matthew Avery, in collaboration with Rebecca Manalac, will present a senior recital featuring works by Chopin, Dahl, Wanamaker, Gardner, and Mackey.
Matthew Avery is a Senior at Western studying Music Performance. He has been playing the saxophone for 12 years playing solos, in quartets, pit orchestra in musicals, and pep band. He is currently studying under Fred Winkler.
He has received numerous scholarships including the Woodwind Scholarship, the Oscar Edwin Olson Scholarship, and Don C. Walter Memorial Scholarship. Matthew has also competed in many different competitions including the WWU Concerto competition, as well as, MTNA for solo and quartet. He played Reed 1 in the musical Pray the Gay Away.
After he graduates, he is planning on continuing his education pursuing an associates degree in Nursing.
