The concert will feature music composed by Yasuhite Ito, Kevin Day, Percy Grainger, Ron Nelson, Julie Giroux, Samuel Barber; as well as Paul Senchuk's "Concerto for Flute" performed by Lisa McCarthy
Senchuk's Flute Concerto is a three-movement tribute to flute professor and performer Dr. Pamela Youngblood. Two fast-paced and rhythmic outer movements wrap around a slow, lyrical episode which features low flutes and chordal passages evoking the sound of an organ.
