Join the combined Western Washington University Orchestras for an eclectic evening of masterworks old and new.

String Sinfonia

The WWU String Sinfonia will present music from Henry Purcell’s 1692 opera The Fairy Queen, followed by George Walker’s ravishing Lyric for strings. Walker, a Pulitzer Prize winner and one of America’s leading African-American composers, died in fall, 2018, at the age of 96. Concluding the first half is Judd Greenstein’​s frenetic Reservoir.

Symphony Orchestra

Following intermission, the WWU Symphony Orchestra takes the stage to present Igor Stravinsky’s iconic 1911 ballet Petrushka, revised by the composer in 1947.
