Afro Cuban Dance class offered Winter 2017

The Dance program will offer a World Dance Experience class Winter Quarter of 2017 (Classfinder: DNC197A), featuring Antonio Diaz of Rumba Northwest teaching Afro-Cuban dance.

Originally from Lima, Peru, Antonio spent several years dancing in Seattle, where he won first prize at the Seattle Salsa Contest in 2000. Antonio has trained in Cuba (with legendary rumba instructor Juan de Dios, among others), Puerto Rico, Peru, Seattle, San Francisco, and Vancouver (BC). In addition to teaching, performing, and choreographing, Antonio is an accomplished Latin musician, having played percussion and sang vocals for the salsa bands Cambalache of Seattle and Salsa Borealis of Juneau.

World Dance Experience is on Tuesday and Thursday from 12 – 1:20 p.m. in Performing Arts Center room 24. The course is 2 credits, S/U grading. Self-sustaining tuition is $250 per credit and is not included in 10 – 18 or tuition costs.  Subject to enrollment.
