Call for Art - Art, Craft, and Activism: Creating Change and Making Movements

Calling all craftivists to submit work for a show about craft & activism.

Crafted works can include but are not limited to: ceramics and glass, fiber and textile, flower crafts, leather work, basket weaving, fashion, needle work , paper crafts, wood and furniture crafts, stone crafts, and metal works. The curators are open to the various interpretations of craft. The show will be focused on all and any types of activism centering social change, including but not limited to: gender, racial, climate, queer, and disability focused activism, as well as any activism that intersects between these realms.

March 28, 2021 at midnight

All artists and activists welcome! 

Requirements

  • All art wishing to be considered must be related to both craft and activism.

  • Western’s B Gallery does not have art insurance, you will be displaying at your own risk.

  • Max size is 72 inches by 72 inches by 96 inches tall, 25 pounds max.

  • All hanging art must come prepared to be displayed (wired, etc.)

  • You will be expected to prepare your art for installation, and get it to Bellingham.

How to Apply?

  • Fill out this application form

  • You will need to include your name, pronouns, images of works and/or sketches if applicable, work title, art dimensions of each work

  • Additionally, you will be asked to provide a brief personal narrative about the work itself including the materials that were used, the choice of craft and the journey to reach the final product, which may include details about the activism or the artwork (or both). 

  • Each person can submit 1-2 works that fit the theme.
