Fiber arts student recognized for wearable expressions

May 3, 2017

Patti Barker, who studied Fiber Arts with Seiko Purdue, received recognition in the 2017 juried Wearable Expressions exhibition.

Two of her pieces were accepted into the Wearable Expressions Exhibition in Palos Verdes, CA and the cloak (photo below) won an Honorable Mention.

Beginning with various hand-painted and recycled silks, they are cut into many pieces. These, to me, represent our fragmented society. As I piece them back together using nuno felt techniques, I'm giving new life to old garments and perhaps a dash of hope for our fragmented society.
