Music Alum Cami Gates leads Redmond High School Orchestra to national recognition

Redmond High School's Philharmonic Orchestra recently took second place in the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) National Orchestra Festival, held in Atlanta, Ga., March of 2025. The group of 16 performers memorized 35 minutes of classical music and performed unconducted.

The ensemble proceeded to the national competition from  their Washington State ASTA win, and will be competing at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA)-Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) Solo and Ensemble Contest on April 25 at Central Washington University. They are led by WWU Music alum Cami Gates.

Cami's orchestra will perform at the final Redmond High School Orchestra concert of the year on June 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Redmond Performing Arts Center.
