Artist Statement
Several years ago, I went to Alaska for a family trip. I was fascinated by the beauty of the glacier that has been frozen for a long time. The various colors of blue and white are widespread on a great scale. At the same time I was scared by observing and hearing about the ice falling into the ocean. The big sound of a waterfall coming from a glacier was unforgettable as well. We don’t see ice melting through global warming in our everyday lives directly. For this exhibition, I decided to make an installation artwork sharing my experience in the US, exploring handmade paper and fabric. The piece on the wall is about the sea creatures that have started dying because of warmer temperatures and the contamination of the water. I collected wishes in the US relating to global warming.
