Graphic Novel & Sequential Storytelling

Introduction to sequential storytelling through visual formats such as zines, comics, and graphic novels. The course teaches the basic principles of visual narratives through character and story development, storyboarding, color, typography, style, and production.

Visual World Building

Artists and designers create immersive and rich worlds in movies, games, and visual art. These fictional worlds can involve elaborate narratives, characters, events, and a complex relationship to place. We will examine the work of artists who engage with worldbuilding in myriad ways. Students will explore and expand these ideas toward a self-directed worldbuilding project open to a variety of media, including painting, drawing, collage, and photography.

Photography for Designers
