About the Spring 2022 Playreading Series

The Department of Theatre and Dance celebrates a long tradition of a robust playwrighting program. Please join us for live readings of these new scripts written by current WWU students and alumni; many of which are regionally acclaimed by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The Spring 2022 season was directed by the incredible Aviona Rodriguez Brown.

Voices of Western Washington University, 2022

This season is directed by the incredible Aviona Rodriguez Brown.

In lieu of an admission fee, audiences chose to make a donation to the James Lortz Theatre Enrichment Fund to support future theatre-makers here at Western.

Winter 2021

This season premiered 6 student works and a one-man show by Playwright/musician/actor Brian Quijada. Dry Land explored high school girls dealing with a pregnancy. Hurt Village explored the street life of young black men and women in Tennessee.

Fall 2020

The first season followed a theme of women breaking through adversity. All four plays were inspired by real experiences.
