Instrumental Ensemble Auditions

All ensembles are open to WWU students regardless of major. Please see below for information regarding auditions for Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, String Sinfonia, and Symphonic Band. Students should plan their audition time around Fall move-in and orientation. We are no longer accepting video submissions for Symphonic Band.

Audition Sign-up

Fall 2019 auditions have passed. Please contact Dr. Ryan Dudenbostel​ and/or Dr. Christopher Bianco about mid-year auditions for Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and String Sinfonia.

Class Schedules & Registration

All students participating in ensembles must register for the appropriate course through Web4U.  Each course is 2 credits per quarter and is repeatable for credit towards graduation requirements, electives, and music degrees. Students will be able to register after ensemble audition results have been posted.

Symphony Orchestra MWF 12:00 - 1:20 pm
String Sinfonia MF 3:00 - 4:50 pm
Wind Symphony
TR 2:00 - 3:50 pm
Symphonic Band MW 3:00 - 4:50 pm

Additional Information

Practice Rooms

Practice rooms are available to all WWU students and the community 5:00 pm and after on weekdays and all day on weekends. Those enrolled in an ensemble have priority access to practice rooms along with majors and minors from 8:00 am-5:00 pm during weekdays. Practice rooms are located on Lower level 1 & 2 (LL1, LL2) in the Performing Arts Center.

Instrument Rental/Lockers

We cannot guarantee instrument rentals for ensemble auditions. We offer low-cost instrumental rentals ($50-45 per quarter) through our instrumental library. For more information regarding instrumental rentals please email the instrumental library. The music department also checks out lockers on a space-available basis to students participating in ensembles. Contact the main music office (PAC 27) for more information at 360-650-3310.
