The Multicultural Outreach Tour (MOTley)

A fun, lively and educational project, MOTley tours every MWF in April and May and reaches approximately 7500 elementary-age students, teachers and staff each spring. MOTley Theatre GroupThe tour is a literature-based, all-school assembly, 1-hour performance of a collection of stories from different cultures, countries and ethnicities focused around a chosen theme for that particular year. Some past themes have included Heroes, Collaboration, Friendship, Wisdom, Origin Tales and Honesty. The students in the tour audition in the fall, spend the winter researching the folk tales and building the show and then takes it out three times per week to various school in Whatcom, Skagit, Nooksack, and Island Counties. The teachers and staff of each school are given a list of stories and where to find them as well as curriculum support materials if they so chose.
