Animated shorts - Spring 2023
These projects are from Chris E. Vargas' 2D Experimental Animation class. The students worked together on each of these projects. Enjoy!
Brain-Melt - Exquisite Corpse
For this exquisite corpse exercise, students used Photoshop to digitally draw a disembodied head, and then were also assigned a head drawn by one of their classmates. Each student then generated the intermediate (or in-between) frames between the two heads. This means each student drew eleven more frames, starting with their original drawing and ending with the randomly assigned classmate’s drawing thus creating dizzying transitions. Hope it doesn’t melt your brain!

Etienne-Jules Marey Walk Cycle
For this collaborative exercise, students used Photoshop with an Etienne-Jules Marey image (Man walking and jumping, chronophotography, c.1887) as a reference to create a seamless 10 frame walk-cycle using the rotoscope technique. The original figure and background were creatively re-imagined by each artist creating a non-stop journey of dynamic action. Keep moving!
