BFA Studio Art Application

This application is for current WWU Art Studio BA majors to apply to the Art Studio BFA program.

The application form will automatically close at the deadline: January 31, 11:59pm.

Successful applicants will be notified before the end of Winter Quarter.

All BFA Studio applicants are required to have a current minimum GPA of 3.0 within their major.

Portfolio

Please upload a portfolio of 12 examples of your best and most recent work.  Artwork should demonstrate a clear focus in overall concept and direction, and an individual ‘voice’ should be discernable in the work presented.

  • The portfolio must be in PowerPoint (ppt or pptx) format.
  • Each artwork must be on a separate page.
  • On the first slide, please include your name.
  • The second slide will be your 300-word artist statement.
  • The 12 additional slides should illustrate your work.
  • Please include web links to time-based work such as animation, video or sound.

Written Statement

The second slide of your portfolio should contain your Written Statement (300 words or less).

What should your artist statement address?

It should address your preferred media, the content or subject matter you wish to pursue and it should address your goals as an artist for your BFA year.

Works

Applicants whose artwork includes time-based media such as video, performance, animation, or sound pieces may include a placeholder image and a web link to the media file, or video.  Do not embed video content in your portfolio.

Below or to the side of each image, list: 

  • title of the piece 
  • medium 
  • size/duration 
  • date of completion 
  • brief description 
  • in the case of group projects, indicate your personal responsibilities
