Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Professor Cristina de Almeida came to the United States twenty-two years ago to pursue graduate studies in Visual Design at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
Along with client-based design projects, she engages in experimental work exploring the visual qualities of written language through several media ranging from artist's books to wall hangings. The books have been exhibited across the country, including at the Northwest Bookfest, Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, Pyramid Atlantic, University of Wisconsin, and Siggraph.
