All WWU students are welcome and encouraged to participate in our music program, regardless of their major or musical background. Graduate students are encouraged to audition for ensembles and the opera, but should refer to the Master of Music page for audition admission information.
The Music Department requires an audition to begin an undergraduate music major, or minor, and to apply for new music scholarships. New majors should plan to audition the same year they apply to WWU due to course sequencing. Prospective composition majors must also submit a portfolio.

The WWU Opera Studio produces a main opera each academic year. Auditions are typically held in November or December with rehearsals beginning in the winter term.
All students at WWU are encouraged to audition! Many of our past cast members have been non-music majors and minors!
More information will be posted on the WWU Voice website in the fall of 2023.

Looking for Theatre & Dance Auditions?
All WWU students are welcome and encouraged to audition for Theatre & Dance productions!
Many music students are involved in theatrical productions including musicals, plays, and dance concerts. Every three years the Opera Studio and Theatre & Dance departments produce a show together with all aspects of the production supported by students from both programs.
