Toby William Bruce will be performing a senior percussion recital, playing a multitude of instruments, and featuring works by Powell, Ellington, Trevino, Muramatsu, Freicher, Gadd, Truesdell, and an original piece in collaboration with Cameron Nielson.

Toby William Bruce is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in drums and percussion currently finishing up his undergraduate performance degree alongside a jazz studies minor at Western Washington University. Since moving from his hometown of Sydney, Australia, he found himself diving into the deep end of his artistic interests and exploring all of what he could do. He involved himself in theatre, writing, and music alike and has carried all of those into a cumulative personality that makes him uniquely stand out in day-to-day life.

During his tenure at WWU, he has been involved in EVERY ensemble as either a member or accompanist, and is eternally grateful for the opportunities that have been given to him. Some of these highlights include: Playing percussion for a performance of The Healing Heart of the First People of this Land by Bruce Ruddell, playing timpani for the unofficial US preview performance of a new John Williams piece, and many more.

Outside of WWU he is an avid performer, playing many times a month all over Washington State in several bands with ranging genres, freelancing for groups across the area, and playing in pits for theater productions. Overall, he wishes to thank everyone who has ever supported him from his infancy to now, as it is the support of those people that has allowed him to stay motivated in doing what he loves. Thank You!
