WWU Music Department Emergency Scholarship

Support and Purpose

Support for Music Department emergency scholarships comes from the Murray Music Scholarship Fund.

The fund’s purpose is to provide support for students in the Music program who

  1. contribute multiple hours to the Department of Music through their leadership, musicianship, academic performance, and
  2. have a short-term financial need

Application and Review Timeline

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with three quarterly review dates throughout the academic year:

  • October 15
  • January 15
  • April 15

One week after each review date, members of the Scholarship Committee will review applications and make awards based on available funding. The average award amount is $500. Priority will go to students who have not been previously awarded funding.

Please describe, in as great a detail as you feel comfortable, the nature of your emergency need. Documentation is not required, but may be requested by the Scholarship Committee. Examples of short-term emergency needs include:
  • Childcare
  • Medical/Dental
  • Transportation/Travel
  • Housing
  • Unpaid Student Account Charges
  • Academic Program, Instrument, or Technology Expenses

By initialing, you also indicate your understanding that formally accepting the scholarship and submitting a thank-you letter will be required in order to receive any funds you are awarded.
