19th Century Art and Architecture course offered online this summer
Study major works of architecture and art from the late 18th and 19th centuries in Europe and the US.
Issues including revolution, historicism, industrialization, modernization, and colonialism, are considered as both the backdrop and as contributors to creative thinking and production during this dynamic period.
Familiarity with this material should not only facilitate knowledge of the past, but will also provide meaningful insight into our conceptions of modernity and the present state of art and architectural preservation, theory, and creativity.
