Dear Students,

Last week I had a message of celebration; this week I am reaching out to you with a message of shared sadness, but also support.

As we near the end of the last week of classes, I had a student in my class state that she felt the world was crumbling around her. With all of the pressures you have already had to endure this term due to the COVID-19 crisis, being subject to or bearing witness to the continuing violence perpetrated against people of color in our community brings heartbreaking grief, anger, and deep strain to an already difficult situation, especially to our black community members.

Please know as we come to the end of this term, faculty and staff in Art & Art History are here for you. We want to help, be it chatting in a Zoom session or on the phone, working on formatting a presentation, or figuring out an overdue assignment. We want to support you in every way possible.
