Design Students Win at Seattle American Advertising Awards

Western Washington University’s Department of Design is excited to announce that Bachelor of Fine Arts ("BFA") students Cam Gibb, Elliot Fogarty, Elsa Haddock, Owen Paznokas, Jade Blue, and Taylor Truong all won American Advertising Awards. All students won in the category: Elements Of Advertising–Film, Video & Sound–Animation or Special Effects.

Cam Gibb and Elliot Fogarty won a Gold Addy and Judge’s Choice for their animated title sequence for the film “Her”, which will go on to the National level to compete. Jade Blue and Taylor Truong won a Silver Addy for their animated multi-platform brand package titled “Welcome to the World of Red Bull”, which advanced past the Local and District levels and will also compete at the National level. Cam Gibb, Elsa Haddock, and Owen Paznokas also won a Silver Addy for their animated multi-platform brand package titled “Rewild the Rainier”.

Each of the students’ work was showcased in the Seattle American Advertising Awards Virtual Show and trophies were handed out at the live ceremony in Seattle.

All the projects were created in Professor Kacey Morrow’s Digital Media Design III class where BFA Design students focus on creative problem-solving for advanced motion design projects.

The creative brief tasked students with concept and design development as well as animation production for entertainment and commercial brand packaging. All the students utilized effective design techniques to produce compelling visual stories in their respective projects.
