Outstanding Graduate in Dance, Valerie Goliff
Valerie spent time at Western diving deep into the study of contemporary dance, ballet, choreography, and contemporary improvisation. She performed in numerous Dance in Concert, Winter Dances, BFA concerts, independent student events, and was invited to work with three Dance Program guest artists: Anya Cloud, Liz Gerring, and Lesley Kraus.
Valerie was also a member of the WWU Hip Hop Dance Team, where she choreographed and served as one of the two team captains for two years. Along with receiving her BFA in Dance, Valerie also earned a BS in Psychology. She combined her social psychological research in stereotyping and bias with her dancing, conducted empirical research, and presented her findings at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology Conference in New Orleans in March 2020. Valerie received a fully funded undergraduate research grant to support her work in Dance and Psychology for her BFA Capstone project.
The Dance program is enormously proud of Valerie's accomplishments while at Western. She is an outstanding leader, offering excellence and honesty in all that she does. We look forward to seeing what she does next. Congratulations to Valerie on being WWU's Dance Program Outstanding Graduate! We are going to miss you.
