Visiting theatre instructor Patrick Midgley’s review of "All the Devils Are Here: How Shakespeare Invented the Villain" was published in the latest edition of Theatre Journal, a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal covering theatre arts and managed by Johns Hopkins University Press. Lovingly nicknamed “The Villain of Broadway” (Playbill), Page’s one-man show explores how Shakespeare created the treacherous characters we all love to hate. The show, produced by the Shakespeare Theatre of Washington, DC, was available online only. Patrick’s review contextualizes Page’s script, discusses his main argument, analyzes his performance, and comments on the ways in which Page successfully confronted the challenges of mediated performance during the pandemic.
