Cieon White will join the faculty of the Dance program at Western this Winter Quarter (2022) to teach Hip-Hop.

White is a Seattle-based dancer with a BFA in English, Art History and Dance from Western Washington University. She has studied styles such as contemporary, ballet, and jazz. Her main love has always been groove and hip-hop.

From being a Seattle Storm Dance troupe member in her younger years to a Western Washington University Hip Hop Dance Team ("WWUHHDT") member and captain during college, Cieon has learned that dance is uniquely independent and collaborative.

She studied grooves and hip-hop based choreography while being a member of the Poison Poppies Dance Crew under the instruction of Kisha Vaughn - a talented choreographer and former Macklemore back-up dancer. Over the years, Cieon has gained experience performing locally in Seattle with the Purple Lemonade collective at the annual Pride Festival, several Westlake Dance Center’s "Sign of the Times" showcases, dancing in Spencer Hood, Neon Hitch and Ife’s music videos, as well as recently performing as a backup dancer for local recording artist Haley Graves.

Due to the beautiful array of artistry Cieon has gotten to observe and work with over time, she plans to bring a fun, authentic and healthy challenge to her hip-hop class and is excited for everyone’s dance journey to continue!
