Trey McLaughlin: A Gospel Sensation Coming to Campus

Western is thrilled to announce that Trey McLaughlin, a renowned gospel singer, composer, and director, will be visiting the campus for a week-long residence this February. McLaughlin is the leader of the gospel ensemble The Sounds of Zamar, which has performed with some of the biggest names in the genre, such as William McDowell, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, and Vashawn Mitchell. McLaughlin and his group are known for their rich harmonies, expressive vocals, and creative arrangements of contemporary gospel songs.

During his residence, McLaughlin will conduct workshops, masterclasses, and rehearsals with the WWU choirs and other interested students.

McLaughlin was born in Augusta, Georgia, and started singing at the age of four. He graduated from Columbus State University with a degree in music performance and has since been involved in various musical projects and initiatives. He has also been a guest clinician and performer in several countries, such as France, Poland, Spain, and Denmark. He is a dedicated teacher and a fervent advocate for music education and outreach.
